Hayley has a Master of Music degree in Cello Performance from the University of Minnesota. She has served as principal cellist of Lirica Chamber Ensemble, associate principal cellist of the Kenwood Symphony, and is most recently founder and cellist of the Alcott String Quartet.
Hayley has taught privately for eight years, structuring her lesson plans according to the goals and learning style of each student. She encourages all of her students to perform solo recitals regularly throughout the year. Many of her more advanced students play in GTCYS orchestras and chamber groups. In particular, Hayley enjoys working with children and beginners, helping them develop a strong foundation in order to ensure enjoyment of the instrument and a bright future full of musical possibilities.
In her teaching, she uses the Suzuki repertoire in conjunction with scales, sight-reading development, etudes, fiddle tunes and any other materials which might benefit the student's path.Hayley Nelson Facebook
