How do I get scheduled for lessons at Twin Town Guitars?

Please see our instructor bios for more information about our talented instruction staff.
What are your lesson rates?

Should I schedule a half-hour lesson or would a full hour be better?
We recommend starting at one half-hour, once a week. Once you get to know your teacher and understand your skill level the student can then discuss other options with his or her teacher if a longer lesson is desired. There is no definitive answer to how many lessons a student will need to learn the basics but we suggest signing up for four lessons to start.
What are your policies regarding payment and attendance?
Most of our teachers have policy sheets including their rules on payment, cancellations, and some of their teaching philosophies that they will give out at the first lesson. These are designed to inform the student on what you can expect from the teacher as well as what they expect out of the student. If anything is unclear, please don’t hesitate to ask your teacher. All of our teachers accept cash or personal checks for payment.
Do Twin Town Guitars students get an opportunity to perform publicly?
We strive to give the student a live experience at a venue around town. Our current and past students have had a blast doing it. Recitals are 100% optional but are strongly recommended, as they are a key element of performance. Being on stage is a moment you will never forget! Currently, Twin Town has two recitals a year:
- One in late spring
- Another at the end of the year for the holidays
What specific teaching methods are used? Will I learn tablature or musical notes?
Each individual learns differently than the next, so our teachers are qualified for various levels of skill and also understand the importance of customizing the lesson to fit a student's needs. Depending on the student's age or previous experience, most teachers begin with an introductory book or basic chords and eventually follow up with actual sheet music and/or tablature. If the student already has previous instruction and wants to improve specific aspects of their playing, that is no problem. Our teachers can jump right in so the student can get to work on weaknesses, such as improvisation and technique, to name a few.
Do you offer Group Lessons at Twin Town Guitars?
Yes! Please see Group Lesson Program descriptions and rates listed at the top of this page under the header Music Education Programs.
